12W is the ceiling — USB-A cannot do USB Power Delivery. For fast charging an iPad or iPhone, use Lightning to USB-C with a 20W+ PD charger. Anker, Belkin and Apple all sell MFi-certified versions; the plug wears out at the strain relief long before the wire does, so braided jackets earn their premium.
