Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 01, 2026

Last updated: April 27, 2026

This policy explains what data Cablebabe collects when you visit cablebabe.com, why we collect it, and what your rights are. Plain English, no legal smoke.

Who we are

Cablebabe (cablebabe.com) is operated by **[OPERATING ENTITY NAME]**, registered in Estonia under registration number [REGISTRATION NUMBER], with its registered address at [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. For anything in this policy, contact us at **[CONTACT EMAIL]**.

What we collect

We keep data collection deliberately minimal. Here’s everything we have:

Server access logs. Our hosting provider (Zone.eu) keeps standard Apache access logs for security and uptime monitoring. These logs include your IP address, the page you requested, the time of the request, and your browser’s user-agent string. We don’t read these logs unless we’re investigating a specific issue (an attack, a 500 error, an outage).

Anonymous analytics. We use Independent Analytics, a cookieless, self-hosted analytics tool. It records page views, referrer, country (derived from IP), and device type (mobile / desktop / tablet). It does **not** set cookies, does **not** track you across sessions, and does **not** identify you as an individual. The IP address used to derive the country is hashed and discarded — we never store your raw IP for analytics.

Email correspondence. If you email us, we keep your message and our reply for as long as we need to handle the conversation, and a reasonable period afterwards in case there’s a follow-up.

Affiliate clicks. Some product links on Cablebabe go to retailer sites (currently or in the future). When you click one, your browser is redirected to the retailer’s domain. **The retailer’s privacy policy applies from that point on, not ours.** We don’t see what you bought or what you paid. The retailer may credit a referral commission to us, but the data flow is between you and the retailer.

What we don’t collect

– No cookies set by Cablebabe (no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies).

– No newsletter list, no signup form, no email marketing as of [EFFECTIVE DATE].

– No comments section, no user accounts, no personal profiles.

– No third-party trackers or pixels (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no advertising networks).

– No fingerprinting, no cross-site tracking, no behavioural profiling.

Why we collect what we collect

Under GDPR, here’s the legal basis for each category:

Server logs: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — keeping the site secure and operational.

Anonymous analytics: legitimate interest — understanding what content is useful so we can write more of what helps. The data is anonymous, so the privacy impact is negligible.

Email correspondence: legitimate interest — answering your message.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to advertisers or data brokers. Ever.

How long we keep it

Server access logs: retained by our hosting provider for up to 90 days, then automatically rotated out.

Analytics data: aggregated indefinitely (it’s anonymous so retention isn’t a privacy concern). Per-event records are retained for up to 24 months.

Email correspondence: retained as long as the conversation is active plus up to 24 months for reference. Longer if there’s a legal obligation to keep it.

Cookies

We don’t set any cookies of our own. Independent Analytics is cookieless by design.

If you visit a third-party site via an outbound link from Cablebabe, that site may set its own cookies — that’s between you and them.

Your rights under GDPR

If you’re in the EU / EEA / UK, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access — ask what data we hold about you.

Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.

Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — ask us to delete data we hold about you.

Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data.

Portability — ask us to give you your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

Objection — object to our processing on legitimate-interest grounds. We’ll stop unless we have an overriding lawful reason to continue.

Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time. (As of [EFFECTIVE DATE] we don’t do consent-based processing.)

To exercise any of these, email us. We’ll respond within 10 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Estonia, that’s Andmekaitse Inspektsioon (Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate) — info@aki.ee, +372 627 4135. If you’re in another EU country, your national data protection authority is the right contact.

Children

Cablebabe is not directed at children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.

International transfers

Cablebabe is hosted in Estonia (EU). The analytics tool is self-hosted on the same server. We don’t transfer personal data outside the EU / EEA.

If we ever change this — for example by adopting a third-party service hosted outside the EU — this policy will be updated and you’ll have notice before the change applies.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy when our data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes (new categories of data collected, new third parties involved, changes to retention) will be flagged here for at least 30 days before they take effect.
