Gigabyte M27Q X (2022)

A 27-inch 1440p 240Hz IPS gaming monitor with a KVM switch and a surprise: USB-C input with DP Alt Mode. That USB-C only delivers 18W though, so it will keep a phone topped up but won't charge a laptop — plan a separate power brick. Two HDMI 2.0 ports and DisplayPort 1.4 cover console and PC sources. 3-port USB hub includes a USB-B upstream for KVM.

27-inch 1440p 240Hz IPS gaming monitor with KVM switch, HDMI 2.0 x2, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C DP Alt Mode (18W PD).

Notes & Compatibility

DisplayPort 1.4 is the only input that reaches the panel’s full 2560×1440 at 240 Hz. Gigabyte lists the two HDMI ports as 2.0, whose 18 Gbps cannot carry 1440p at 240 Hz uncompressed, so use DP for high-refresh work and keep HDMI for consoles. The USB-C port carries DP Alt Mode video, USB data and 18 W Power Delivery on one lead, which tops up a phone or tablet but will not run a laptop. The KVM switch routes the USB hub between sources: an HDMI or DP machine needs a separate USB-B to USB-A upstream cable run to it, while a USB-C machine gets video, data and power over the single cable. Downstream hub ports are USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps. Rev 2.0 shipped in August 2023 with the same port layout, so the cable advice is identical for both revisions.
