The 15" MacBook Air with the M4 chip drops down to two USB-C ports but upgrades them from Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 4, giving you up to 40Gbps per port and native DisplayPort 1.4 output. Charging is handled by MagSafe 3 (35W dual-port adapter on the base model, 70W single on higher tiers), keeping the USB-C ports free for accessories. With M4 the Air supports two external 6K displays at 60Hz alongside the built-in screen — a step up from the M3 Air which limited you to one. The 3.5mm jack on the right side supports high-impedance headphones.
Apple’s 15″ mainstream laptop with two Thunderbolt 4, MagSafe 3, headphone jack, and dual external 6K display support on M4.
