Shure SM58 (1966)

The Shure SM58 is the industry-standard cardioid dynamic vocal microphone used on stages worldwide. It uses a balanced 3-pin XLR output and a built-in spherical pop filter, and its rugged construction handles being dropped onto club floors night after night. Frequency response is tailored for the human voice at 50 Hz – 15 kHz, and the cardioid pickup pattern rejects feedback from monitors and side noise.

Industry-standard cardioid dynamic live vocal mic with a 3-pin XLR output, built-in pop filter, and tailored vocal frequency response.

Notes & Compatibility

Sensitivity is -54.5 dBV/Pa — significantly hotter than the SM7B, so most mixers and interfaces drive it cleanly without an inline booster. The detachable XLR cable is sold separately on the SM58-LC; the SM58-CN bundle ships with a 25 ft cable.
