Synology's 2025 four-bay Plus-series NAS finally moves the mainstream DiskStation to faster networking, pairing two 2.5GbE RJ-45 ports that can be link-aggregated for up to 5Gbps of combined throughput. Storage expansion no longer uses eSATA: a dedicated USB-C port drives an optional DX525 unit for five more bays. Two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports handle backups and external drives. Note the M.2 NVMe slots are internal (cache or a storage pool) and are not cabled ports.
