Sony PlayStation 2 (Original Fat, 2000)

The original PlayStation 2 launched with the proprietary Sony AV Multi Out and added a digital optical TOSLINK output for Dolby Digital and DTS — a first for a Sony console. Early SCPH-30000 boards expose USB 1.1 plus an i.LINK (IEEE 1394 / FireWire 400) port for system-link multiplayer; both USB and i.LINK survive through SCPH-39000 before i.LINK is dropped at the SCPH-50000 revision. The rear expansion bay hosts the official Network Adapter (Ethernet + modem) and 40GB HDD; no Ethernet is built in.

Original 2000 Fat PS2: AV Multi Out, optical TOSLINK, 2× USB 1.1, i.LINK FireWire (early models), and an expansion bay for HDD/Network Adapter.

Notes & Compatibility

Covers all ‘Fat’ PS2 hardware revisions (SCPH-10000 launch JP, SCPH-30000 NTSC-U, through SCPH-50000/55000/75000 mid-life). i.LINK / IEEE 1394 was removed starting with SCPH-50000. Ethernet is not built in — the Network Adapter is a separate accessory that occupies the rear expansion bay. The expansion bay also hosts the 40GB HDD. Uses several proprietary connectors not yet in the database (controller, memory card, expansion bay) — placeholder names for the post-batch connector-creation pass.
