Sony PlayStation 2 Slim (2004)

The Slim PS2 collapses the Fat's expansion bay into a built-in 100BASE-TX Ethernet port, making online play a one-cable affair — no Network Adapter required. The Sony AV Multi Out and optical TOSLINK survive the redesign so Dolby Digital and RGB/component cables still work, but i.LINK is gone for good. SCPH-70000 through SCPH-77000 use an external 8.5V DC power brick over a proprietary barrel jack; the final SCPH-90000 revision (2007) reintegrates the PSU and switches back to an IEC C8 figure-8 inlet.

Slim 2004 PS2 swaps the Fat’s expansion bay for built-in 100Mb Ethernet; keeps AV Multi Out, TOSLINK and 2× USB 2.0.

Notes & Compatibility

Slim revisions SCPH-70000 (2004) through SCPH-79000 use an external 8.5V DC power brick with a proprietary barrel jack; the final SCPH-90000 (2007) integrates the PSU and uses an IEC C8 figure-8 inlet. i.LINK and the expansion bay are gone. USB is genuine USB 2.0 on the Slim. Built-in 100BASE-TX Ethernet replaces the Fat’s Network Adapter. Uses proprietary controller, memory card and DC barrel-jack connectors not yet in the database — placeholder names for the post-batch connector-creation pass.
