Sony PlayStation 3 Super Slim (CECH-4000, 2012)

The 2012 Super Slim is the final PS3 redesign — about 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the 2009 Slim, with a sliding-cover disc bay replacing the slot-loader. The port complement carries over unchanged from the previous Slim: HDMI, the proprietary Sony AV Multi Out, optical TOSLINK, two USB 2.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet, all over an IEC C8 figure-8 inlet. There are still no card readers — those only ever existed on the launch CECHA/CECHB Fat models.

2012 PS3 Super Slim CECH-4000: HDMI 1.4, AV Multi Out, optical TOSLINK, 2× USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet, IEC C8 power inlet.

Notes & Compatibility

Same rear port layout as the CECH-2000 Slim — Sony kept the I/O complement constant across both ‘slim’ generations. Sliding cover disc loader replaces the CECH-2000’s slot-loading mechanism. PS2 hardware backwards compatibility is gone (PS1 software emulation remains).
